At Mejiro Gym Amsterdam you can find an all-round kickboxing training at amateur level as well as on a professional level. During this course you'll learn the famous 'Mejiro-style'. If you want to know more about it's history click here. Next to that we offer a kickbox training that is accessible for everyone: young & old, man & woman, beginners & experienced.

Kickboxing offers an endurance work-out, prevents stress, helps to loose weight, build up your confidence, adjusts your posture and expression and brings body and mind back together. All trainings are held in a healthy and responsible way where you'll be taught by the sensei André Mannaart.

Explanation of subscriptions

At Mejiro Gym we personally supervise that the trainings are accessible for everyone. If you have any questions or if you'd like to inquire about subscriptions, please email marieke@mejirogym.nl or of course, stop in at the gym!




Subscription A

This subscription is valid for 3 training sessions a week for both beginners and experts. During these three days, you internalize kickboxing, it's a complete kickboxing course in which you'll learn the famous Mejiro-style – click here for the history. This subscription can be used for people who aspire a career as a professional fighter or for those who'd like to master kickboxing on an amateur level.

Mondays are planned for the heavy bag training. During these trainings we focus on condition and endurance. The first part of the training consists of conditional exercises like knee lifts. You can also expect muscle strengthening exercises like push ups.

The second part of the training you start to work on the bag. This is where strength, condition and endurance come together. The exercises are explained and supervised by André Mannaart. There are also a few rounds where you get the chance to indulge yourself on the bag so you can learn how to combine different techniques and actions.

On Wednesdays and Fridays the focus is on technique and sparring. Wednesday's main focus is on boxing and Friday's main focus is on kicking. First there are some individual exercises, followed up by exercises where you team up with another student. These classes are perfect to master the technique, there's extra attention and your level and improvement points are being monitored.

Next to the technical aspect during the especially developed exercises, these classes introduce you to sparring. There will be several rounds of sparring with someone from the same level during an x amount of minutes. During these sparring rounds you can apply the taught technique: you'll learn how to attack but also to defend, because there's an opponent obviously!

To provide a safe and responsible process of training at Mejiro Gym there are some regulations – you'll find them here. During the beginner lessons it's not allowed to punch and kick towards the head, so the sparring only targets the body. If you're personal level increases the sensei can give you the opportunity to attend the training for experts. These trainings do involve sparring towards the full body, including the head. It is compulsory to wear boxing gloves, shin- and mouth guards. Back up




Subscription B

This subscription contains two days of training during the week; both trainings are heavy bag trainings. Attending bag training is suitable for everyone: professional & starting fighters, man & woman, young & old. It's a mixture of levels since everyone trains individually on the bag. So even without any experience you can come to us. Heavy bag training offers an extreme good work out to improve endurance, strength and conditioning. It prevents stress, helps to loose weight, build up your confidence, adjusts your posture and brings body and mind back together. During the training you're very focused, you don't think of anything else for the moment and the daily grind just fades.

Kickboxing has a very distinctive culture in which respect towards the Sensei is very important. This means you don't give up easily, you'll push your boundaries and exceed your limits. This is one of the reasons why these trainings are so successful and it will improve your physical and mental endurance significantly. Back up




Subscription C

With this subscription you can train every day of the week. You can choose which day you want to come and which classes you like to attend. If you're dedicated to improve your condition and you'd like to train on a daily basis then this is the right subscription. Or, if you prefer the flexibility then this subscription is also a good option for you. Back up




Subscription D

A 10-class pass gives you the freedom to determine when you want to train and which class you'd like to attend. This subscription is suitable for people that don't have time to attend a training twice a week on a regular basis but they do want to follow the classes. You determine what you'd like to focus on and choose your class adjusted to that. A 10-class pass is valid for 6 months. Back up




Subscription E

Currently children's kickboxing has discontinued. We expect to restart the classes on November 1, 2011. Keep an eye on the website for more information! Back up




Private lessons

The sensei André Mannaart also offers private lessons. During a private lesson you'll be working one on one, which is the perfect opportunity to really master the skills of kickboxing. You will be doing different exercises and you will also utilize the boxing pads. You can indicate yourself what you'd like to work on and the sensei will push you to your limits. Private lessons are the perfect way to prepare for a fight if you're a professional kickboxer. For more information you can send an email to marieke@mejirogym.nl. Back up




Open Gym

During the mornings the Gym is open for complimentary use. You can go sparring if you're a duo or you can hang up a bag and practice individually. Fighters usually train during the mornings so this is also a nice opportunity to see the masters at work. Open Gym is a way to get some extra conditional work out. .Back up




Trial lesson

We encourage everyone to participate in a trial lesson. You can choose between Heavy Bag training or Technique & Sparring. If it's your first time we'll explain everything so you can get an impression about kickboxing and it's benefits for your.
